While the number of cases have crossed 9.5 million across the world, its encouraging that the number of people recovered is also increasing at a good pace. But even more encouraging news is that A new vaccine is being tried out on people in the UK! The vaccine will be given to about 300 people under the supervision of expert team from the Imperial College London. This trial is led by Professor Robin Shattock. But.. what is a vaccine? Vaccines are substances that prevent the spread of disease. it causes the body’s immune system to make proteins called antibodies, which fight disease. On June 15th, they clashed and both countries UNFORTUNATELY lost some of their soldiers. But why are they suddenly clashing? It all probably started because China did not like it when India built a road on their own side of the border in Ladakh along the LAC (Line of Actual Control). So, China went ahead and built their own stuff too. What next then? Leaders from both sides might try their best to resolve by dialogue. How many continents are there on earth? I hear you say 7? Well you might be wrong! Scientists have now confirmed the existence of an eighth continent. Its called Zealandia. 94% of this continent is underwater in the south pacific ocean. The continent itself measures 2 million square miles that is half the size of Australia. Zealandia was forced under waves about 30 million to 50 million years after it broke off Gondwana But what is Gondwana island? Gondwana formed when Earth’s ancient supercontinent, Pangea, split into 2 fragments. Laurasia in the north and Gondwana in the South. Laurasia became today’s Europe, Asia and North America. While Gondwana dispersed to form modern day Africa, Antartica, South America and Australia. Twenty or more massive shafts*, each more than 10m in diameter* and 5m deep, form a circle more than 2km in diameter. Testing of the shafts suggest they were dug more than 4500 years ago, around the time Durrington Walls and Stonehenge were built. Scientists have developed a new Matchbox sized device that could convert wasted heat at homes, offices and vehicles, into electricity. And guess what? Its environmentally friendly too That sounds like music to my ears Normally all the residual heat coming off the heat sources like hot water pipes is lost into the atmosphere. Now we are able to trap some and convert it to useful electricity, Said Professor Shashank Priya, associate vice president for research at Penn State. Ravi Anant Kishore, a research engineer at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and co-author of the study, said “These modules can also be conveniently used on the human body to harvest body heat, thereby providing a continuous power source for wearable and implantable devices.” How cool is that! It simply means that you can recharge devices like your mobiles with just your own body heat!
